    Please help with Metatrader! !!!

maybe I am too spoiled from my graphic programs ... or simply too stupid

    but:

    - how can I set a 15 min vertical grid in every timeframe?

    - where do I see the current time? (hovering over a 15 min candle I just see the closing time and not the actual time)

    - how can I get other timeframes like 3 min and 10 min? (I found out how to put the 'period converter script' on offline charts, but that is rather useless, or not?)

    - are there differences in the MT4 versions depending the broker you use? ... i.e. that some functions/indicators are different?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

There are not many differences between MT4 platforms provided by different brokers. MT4 is a self-licensed entity and brokers cant change its function unless getting it approved.
As for 3 and 10 mins charts , MT4 dont have this option. I dont know if have any random timeframe tool in it bt i havent seen it yet.

Only use an EA if you've got 5+ years of very successful experience. Running an EA without the skills needed would be like trying to fly a jet plane when you have experience riding a bike.

try using MT4 rather than MT5.... MT4 is user friendly....

as for the time frames, they are mentioned on top of the screen, u can choose any of them.... as for the vertical grid, u can right click on the chart and select or de select grid... and as for the lines and trendlines and vertical ones, tehy are also mentined on top of the screen..

Yes, mt4 is much simpler and user friendly for beginners in automated trading. The mt5 platform have some advantages like visual coding and advanced programming language, but for simpler strategies and indicators mt4 is the best choice!

well, thanks ... I use MT4 ... and as it goes for indicators there's no wish left open ... but still, some things could be more userfriendly/customizable, I think ... although many of you, who use MT for years will disagree

Well Marc, I use MT4 for quite a long time now and I dont disagree with you. It should allow some some more customization freedom and some features to make it more user friendly. Well, nobody's perfect Anyway, I dont think im gonna switch to another platform any time soon.

Your post jimmyjjohn look like promotional one and also not so helpful, probably its place is not here, but anyway. I couldn’t say I am master of using Metatrader software but it is really the easiest analytical software out there. There aren’t many differences between different brokers which are Metatrader providers, so if you learn how it works in one place you will be able to use it anywhere with any broker. Actually the Metatrader 5 release is a bit more complicated than mt4 but if you work with it, it is really very easy to make anything with it too.

Must be an easier, cheaper and better way of doing all this?

Would like one place to cover:

    1. Data

    2. Range bar charts with trade on chart capability

    3. Easy Language friendly for mechanical trading of my codes

    4. Trade desk

    5. Ability to place the strategy on the platform's server so that a disconect from my desk top would not be an issue.

    Thanks in advanced!

Metatrader can seem a lot more intimidating than it actually is. Things can start to get complicated when you are designing your own EAs, or when you are just adding EAs to your trading station. But most people don't even take things this far, so getting familiar with the trading station itself is just a matter of practice. There are some ways to customize the station, but this is one of the areas where the MT4 is lacking I think because for the most part the software looks almost the same as it did in its earliest versions. It is really time they made some updates.
