Do you basically leave the default setting at 20 or do you tweak? How do you get 9,7 as shown in your article? In an example of an uptrend, how do I trade with this indicator? What I got from your posts is that I should wait for a trend to retrace. This will be shown by the TSF crossing the price. At this point I do not do anything at all? When the trend resumes, TSF will cross the price again, and this time, I trade at the moment when the candlestick touches the line of this indicator? Is that right?
In this example the 9 and 7 are the number of periods the TSF is based on and the number of days of moving average used to smooth it. Use the TSF, along with other indicators to indicate trend, so long as the trend is in place you can enter a trend following trade any time the asset price touches or moves below the TSF indicator. Base expirations on the chart length you are using, perhaps at least 5-10 bars? on a daily chart that would be 5-10 days, one to two weeks.

    Hi Michael,

I'm new to this forum & a newbie in binary trading. I wished I had joined these kind of forums before going into trading. The TSF indi looks like something that is very promising for a newbie like me to look at. Anyway, how do I change the number of periods from 5 and 7 to 9 and 7? I need that Mr Magoo glass. Thanks!

It depends on which platform you are using for charts, Not all are adjustable. If you are using MT4 or simliar then pop over to that thread and ask over there, hang on Ill be back with a lnk in a sec.

Interesting article. Time is probably the most overlooked aspect of technical analysis and many would argue that it is just as important as price when trying to forecast there prices are headed next.

I have been tracking, not real close but now and then, TSF and it seems to be a good indicator of long term trend bounces once it retreats to the trend line or other long term trend tracking tool. Especially the last couple of years of what I would call a fairly decent bull market....

If you use MT4, you should have an EMA included in your indicators. You look for: Insert/Indicators/Trend/Moving Average and then change MA-method to Exponential with Period setting 30. (translated from Dutch, so maybe names are a little different).

    Good luck
