Apple Earnings to Bring Next Weekly Main Event !!!

Apple Earnings to Bring Next Weekly Main Event

Apple earnings will create the next main event this week, and the major dividing line between a positive and negative result will hinge on iPad mini sales during the 2012 Christmas season. Typically, the 4th quarter is very strong for Apple, so markets will likely be working off an expectation for continued strength. Apple earnings are expected to show an EPS of $13.41 along with revenues of $54.7 billion. If these expectations are met, it would mark an 18% increase on a yearly basis. The result of this report could have sweeping implications for the market as a whole, so traders should be watching this number closely.

A positive result will likely signal that markets have found a long term bottom in the $500 region and re-ignite another bull trend. I will be looking for hourly CALL options in AAPL if the report can send prices above $530. If we see a negative result, and prices are forced through $490, I will look for hourly PUT options in AAPL.

If AAPL simply meets or slightly exceeds earnings, look to stay on the sidelines for the shorter term trades.

The EPS of $13.81 exceeded expectations, but the guidance for the next quarter was bearish and this has sent the shares down in after-hours trading. It looks likely that the share price will open lower tomorrow but I think it may then start to rise again. I have long positions so I am hoping for a rise.

Apple I think performed at least as well as was expected, the guidance was really crappy from a market perspective. Apple is sure to remain strong as a business and the guidance is probably very conservative. The stock tanked overnight to extremely low levels that I think will attract some longer term buyers. I'm going to buy a call in just a minute with a daily close and maybe one with a monthly close (my tip for the week did not work out to expectations)

Downside momentum failed to show follow-through. "Thats the breaks," as the great Don Rickles would say.

The S&P 500 tanked as well. Its turning out to be quite an eventful week, but I am not sure about the other assets as I've been keeping my eyes glued to the movements of AAPL stock!

I think Apple is now on it's way down to $400. I also think that the average investor is no longer in the trade. There is just too much reason for them to stand on the sidelines at this point. GRRRRRRR Apple.......

I don’t think apple will fall that much and I don’t think that the average investor is already out of the trade. Mrs Market is making a huge joke with all of us but I think it will still be a strong company this year and will make good return for its believers. I prefer to stay out for now, as there is some signs the whole market is overbought at that situation.
