    Ingmar's trading diary !!!

    stardate: blabla etc etc.

    RIGHT !

I've been following some diaries right now and it's great educational material! I've been trying to post some trades myself using the trading platform integrated on this site but it's been showing some trades still open for a few days now (they are already expired) so i think i can't really trust it to work as intended.

Therefore i will start sharing my trades (and analysis) in this diary starting this week (even though i won't be able to trade much this week)

I've never been good at keeping diaries so this will be a challenge in itself.

Today was a bad day for me, i made 6 trades 3 ITM and 3 OTM. I didn't record them but will do so for future diary entries.

I'll keep you guys and gals posted.

    end of today's log :-)

Dear diary readers (if any LOL)

Today was the first day i traded after easter. Last week i had a guest over so i could not really focus on trading at all. He took a little vacation when he was at our place (we live in the south of France smack in the middle of a beautifull small valley) and was reading a lot so i took advantage of the situation and re-read some diaries and searched some articles on price action.

I love naked charting and i start to love it even more the more i learn about it. It seems i have a natural 'knack' for seeing trendlines and price action but i have problems with entering a trade without hesitation and choosing a good expiry.

I have been practicing with counting candles to choose the best expiry times but i end up looking at different timeframes and that messes with my head. If i look at the 5 minute chart for example i can count 3 candles or 15 minutes but then i go to the 1 min for a good entry and i let go of my planned expiry because i see all kinds of 'smaller less important' areas of price action.

So today i decided to stick with what i'm used to and see if i can trade semi nekkid on a 60s chart.

I choose USDJPY because it looked the most predictable from the charts i had open and on a 60s chart i have no time to question myself.

here are some of the trades:

    http://prnt.sc/exvb0a

    http://prnt.sc/exvepp

    http://prnt.sc/exviv0

    http://prnt.sc/exvofa

    http://prnt.sc/exvrgd

    http://prnt.sc/exvtk4

    http://prnt.sc/exw4i4

    http://prnt.sc/exwg20

What i learned from my last trade is that i used to look at convergence at higher timeframes for trades. Oversold on different TF etc.

When i trade on the 60s chart there are lots of moments that the higher timeframes don't confirm BUT i noticed that if 5 min is oversold and i take a put option on the 1 min chart, it helps looking how long till the (oversold) 5 min candle needs to close. I must make sure i do not exceed that time with my expiry.

I hope to be able to post better pictures in the future. So far i have not managed to upload any pictures like in the other diaries.

thanks for reading and looking forward to your comments!

    Dear diary readers.

I really need to find a way to upload screenshots instead of links. It makes the diary more interesting and easier to read.

Today was an interesting trading day. 8 trades ITM, 1 trade ATM and 8 trades OTM.

The losses i made were to be suspected. I am practicing on 1M charts and i tried trading while the charts were diverging. Lower highs and higher lows. As the price got trapped between the R and S i kept trading to practice expiry. It was really tricky, 1 min too long or to short expiry and things can go south fast. I ended up trading per candle even, which i must say didn't feel comfortable at all. I will try to avoid this in the near future.

When i'm trading 1 min i should regard the charts from a different viewpoint more often. It's easy to get lost in the movements of the candles and forgetting about the bigger picture that gives clues about the price's behaviour when it consolidates.

These are the trades i started out with this morning.

    http://prnt.sc/ey8cfs

    http://prntscr.com/ey8kq6

In the afternoon i started loosing trades when price got nervous and jumpy.

    here are some of them.

    http://prntscr.com/ey9omd

    http://prntscr.com/ey9pu6

Below a trade i lost. On my chart it was an ATM, but my broker entered me higher then the candle open and closed the trade lower than the candle close. The risk of short term trades! You can see i should have traded on the kiss. I redrew my trendline after the trade, it was a bit higher before and i thought the touch had already happened.

    Here's some more wins :-)

    http://prntscr.com/eyanff

    http://prntscr.com/eyaxbj

    http://prntscr.com/eyaywp

I ended my trading session with a 1H expiry trade. Looks good so far. If it breaks downwards from that triangle i might sell it early.

    EDIT: last trade ITM \o/

Today i could only trade in the morning. There were some news events interfering as well so i went for turbo trading again.

I fell for the trap of trading inside a triangle again, but this time it was quite large and i took a shot at it for a longer timeframe. Of course i lost the trade again because at the higher TF i ignored a S-line i had drawn. Why did i ignore it you might ask yourself? I drew it on a lower timeframe and did not expect it to be very strong and it was already ignored by price a few times before. This time it boosted the price right back to where it came from :-/

Here's the picture of the trade (i tried uploading different formats of pics to my diary last night. Nothing seems to work. So my apologies for the links only :-/ )

This was my first trade of today.

    http://prnt.sc/eylnon

a second opportunity presented itself soon after:

    http://prnt.sc/eylt93

and for the third i pushed my luck. Again ATM on my chart platform and OTM on my broker platform.

    http://prnt.sc/eylz7a

Someone in the skypegroup asked my to take a look at EU pair for him. So i did and snuck in a cheeky trade :-)

    http://prnt.sc/eym23t

Before the following trade we were discussing the EU in the skypegroup still. It had broken the channel and was moving in a downtrend now. When i saw this opportunity, i took it. I'm not good at entering and choosing expiries for breakouts yet, so i'm pretty content with this trade.

    http://prnt.sc/eymk2q

I checked out EURAUD and drew a quick line. Took the entry right away without looking at indies :-O

    http://prnt.sc/eymnqk

I keep going back to the UJ chart. It treats me well:

    http://prnt.sc/eymsqa

    http://prnt.sc/eyo8qx

I will leave you with these. I don't think many are reading anyways, but it helps me a lot :-)

Well done Ingmar. I'm not experienced enough to say what you did right or wrong but I'm learning as I read others diaries.

thanks Mick! Glad it helps someone :-)

I think it helps myself mostly atm.
Yesterday i wrote about my messup with trading while price was consolidating. Today i snuck one in and got bitten in the bum again and when i posted the trade i became very aware of my former post where i said i wouldn't do it again... UPS LOL

I guess a diary can mirror my own stupidity and help me become aware of my bad habits :-)

    happy trading mate

Hi Ingmar and thanks for the kind words.
I was looking at your charts and your analysis looks pretty good to
my rookie eyes. I'm definitely not that confident around short expiry times
although I did take a 5min put on the eurusd yesterday.
    Happy learning mate.
