Market Volume Profile available for free from MarketDelta Cloud Demo !!!

Finally we have Market Volume Profile absolutely for free from MarketDelta Cloud demo trading platform. I just found it today and I am really excited to share my discovery with you!

First – what is volume profile – it is a horizontal ‘’third dimension’’ on the chart indicator showing the real volume in the market but not on a given time, but on a given level of price. This way we can easily identify high volume nodes which are very high probability of becoming support or resistance once approached. It is an old indicator but just recently it became more and more popular among futures traders. It is helpful only for trading instruments where the real volume (not the tick volume, which is something totally different!) is measurable and these instruments are the individual stocks and the futures, like SP500, Crude Oil and so on.

MarketDelta cloud demo is absolutely free without any time limitations to use, so everyone of you can open an account, it is very simple and the platform opens immediately in the browser so no need to install anything. I am still learning how to tweak my charts but hope it won’t be difficult. The names of the instruments are quite different from what we are familiar with, but there is a list where you can find all their abbreviations, what they mean and some nice video tutorials as well.

Here are just few screenshot examples which I made today:

fuk yeah! this is a great indicator, volume at price level is a GREAT confirmation of trend weakening or strengthening and support/resistance. This may be the best tool I've seen (reintroduced to) in a long long time.

Thanks for sharing man. My reaction is no less than Michael. This indicator is extremely helpful. I am wondering this indicator is present for so long, unnoticed.

Btw, how does it calculate these volume bars. Something like "Sum of volume of last n days"?

Market profile is an old indicator. Popular among old futures traders in the 1980s & 1990s where traders can monitor the volume of prices.

Yes, something like that! It calculate the sum of volume on a given interval of price (for example between 2040 and 2042 on SP500 futures) of the last n bars. It can be on intraday chart as well on daily charts, but most popular way is to chart volume profile on each trading session (for example index futures trading session can be selected only for the hours when the real market is open, not the overnight futures on AMEX). This way you have multiple volume profiles which summarize all recent trading sessions and from each of them some important S/R levels can be extracted. In the case with MarketDelta I think Volume Profile is calculated on the basis of all the bars visible on the chart and with some small tweaks it will be easy to select for exactly what kind of period to see the volume profile.

Haha, yea willyw You know that much better than us. Did you use this indicator in your early trading days?

I spoted some books explaining volume profile two years ago, but never find a platform where I can plot this indicator until now. I think it is one of the most useful indicators and many seasoned traders can make their decissions only based on this indicator. Of course nothing is perfect and it has its own limitations and many instruments without centralized markets like forex can not have volume profiles by definition, but for futures like indexes and most comodities it is very very helpful
